Are you ready to paddle your way through an incredible adventure while supporting a great cause? The Willowbrook Hospice 14 Mile Canoe Challenge is back, and it promises to be an unforgettable event! This unique challenge takes place along the stunning Leeds-Liverpool Canal, winding through the picturesque West Lancashire Plain.
Event Details
- Date: Sunday 11th May 2025 (early start)
- Time: 4–7 hours (depending on your pace)
- Distance: 14 miles
- Start Location: The New Scarisbrick Arms, Black-A-Moor Ln, Ormskirk, L39 7HX
- Finish Location: Appley Bridge, Wigan, WN6 9AW
Participants will navigate through Burscough, Parbold, and other charming towns before crossing the finish line at Appley Bridge. This route includes 4 swing bridges and 1 lock, making for a fun and engaging paddle!
What Makes This Event Special?
- Support Along the Way: Organised in collaboration with St Helens Canoe Club, this event ensures a safe and well-supported experience.
- Equipment Provided: All participants will receive canoes, buoyancy aids, and paddles, so there’s no need to worry about sourcing gear. A detailed kit list will also be sent out to help you prepare.
Entry Details
- Entry Fee: £40 per team of 2.
- Fundraising Requirement: We ask each team to raise a minimum of £300 per canoe. Every penny goes toward supporting the compassionate care and services provided by Willowbrook Hospice.
