Our staff across the hospice have been having honest conversations about death and dying, which is so important to be able to provide good end of life care.
We fully understand there are barriers due to lack of confidence and perhaps taboos around discussing death and confusion about who should be having these conversations..this can mean patients, carers and families might not understand what is happening, or have all the information and support they need.
Our staff got together during Dying Matters Week to speak about their personal experiences, their thoughts and feelings on how what we say, or don’t say, can impact our patients, families and us as staff.
