Our Promise…Willowbrook Hospice is here for you.

We welcome all people, and believe that everyone has the right to be the person they are, to live without fear or prejudice regardless of their ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, faith and belief, or disability.

We believe that our hospice is a better place to receive care, to work and volunteer when we all feel included, respected and welcomed.

We value the strength that comes with difference and the positive contribution that diversity and neurodiversity bring to our community.

We are committed to inclusivity and our approach is rooted in our Mission.

Our Mission:

Care, Educate and Engage.

At Willowbrook Hospice, we are proud that our service provides a caring, inclusive environment where our community (our patients, carers, supporters, and their families) are treated equally, as individuals, and where they can be confident they will receive the same high standards of care whoever they may be.

Our EDI Strategy supports the two main goals within our strategic plan that reflects our vision and responds to our patients’ requests.

In September 2021 We were assessed and successfully achieved the

Navajo Merseyside & Cheshire LGBTIQA+ Charter Mark.

What is the Navajo Merseyside Charter Mark?

The Navajo Merseyside & Cheshire LGBTIQA+ Charter Mark is an equality mark sponsored by In-Trust Merseyside and supported by the LGBTIQA+ Community networks across Merseyside– a signifier of good practice, commitment and knowledge of the specific needs, issues and barriers facing LGBTIQA+ people in Merseyside and Cheshire.

The Navajo Merseyside Consultative Partnership was formed in 2010 and over 60 cross-sector partners now intend to achieve the Chartermark standards.

The assessment team reviewed in depth our

  •  Policies and practices across the whole organisation
  •  Training in equality, diversity & inclusion
  •  Staff and volunteer recruitment & engagement
  •  Monitoring processes
  •  Service Users feedback and LGBT Engagement

At Willowbrook Hospice we are committed to developing Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in support of maintaining our outstanding approach in the provision of care to everyone – and anyone – who needs it. This is a key part of our Willowbrook Strategy and vision of:

‘The best care, delivered with compassion, for our community.’

We will be reassessed in September 2023.
