Last week, staff and volunteers across Willowbrook Hospice proudly wore red as part of Show Racism the Red Card’s Wear Red Day, joining thousands across the UK in celebrating Black History Month and showing our ongoing commitment to equality, inclusion, and anti-racism.
The colour red represents unity, courage, and the shared stand against racism. This national initiative encourages organisations, schools, and communities to raise awareness, spark meaningful conversations, and actively promote an anti-racist culture.
At Willowbrook, inclusion is truly at the heart of everything we do. We welcome and value people from all walks of life – whether as patients, visitors, staff, or volunteers.
Here are just a few ways we’re taking action:
We’re working with the Anthony Walker Foundation to deliver anti-racism training for our staff.
We’re proud to have five volunteers who are refugees or asylum seekers, thanks to partnerships with St Helens Refugee Resettlement Service, Our Warm Welcome, and @cafe.laziz
Thank you to everyone who wore red and showed their support. Together, we’re helping to make Willowbrook – and our wider community – a truly inclusive and welcoming place for all.
