Willowbrook Receives an Allocation of the First £25m of Government Funding

Willowbrook Hospice is delighted to have been selected to receive some of the first £25m of additional government funding for the hospice sector in England, following the announcement late last year of a £100m funding package. £99,908.00 has been allocated to Willowbrook Hospice.

Alun Owen, Executive Corporate Director said:

“The recent government commitment of £100m to support hospices across England has been a significant and much-needed boost. Today’s announcement of the first £25m allocation brings some immediate, albeit small, relief to hospices like ours, helping us to continue delivering high-quality, compassionate care to those who need it most.

As an organisation, we are committed to supporting the government’s vision to move more care into the community, ensuring that those at the end of life receive the care they deserve, in the comfort of their homes or in other more appropriate settings. The additional stability provided by this funding is a golden opportunity for us all to reform and improve the palliative and end-of-life care system for the future.”

Whilst this funding will make a significant difference for Willowbrook and relieves some of the pressures we face this year, it is still important to note that it costs us over £5m per year to provide this service. The amazing work that Willowbrook’s fundraising team and the wider community do to raise vital funds must still continue, so that the care will always be available to access for years to come.
