Volunteers’ Week – Rowley’s Story

Meet Rowley!

“I am a receptionist at the hospice. It is a role I have undertaken for over six years now.

I decided to begin volunteering after my wife was a patient at the hospice. I had just retired and lost my wife eight months later. After some time of reflection and some counselling offered by the hospice, I decided to offer my services to Willowbrook.

My time volunteering has been very enjoyable, with the friendly people and excellent staff I have met along the way. It is good to give something back to Willowbrook for all the assistance that they have given me. Volunteering has given me a sense of purpose and structure to my life and has also led to some enjoyable fundraising events. The highlight as a Red was abseiling down the stand at Anfield!

I would recommend volunteering at Willowbrook to anyone who has some spare time. It is a worthwhile and rewarding addition to your life.

If you are thinking about it, get in touch with the volunteering hub and give it a try. The various opportunities are there for everyone to try and your support and help will be much appreciated.”

Thank you Rowley for all that you do for Willowbrook, we are so lucky to have you!
