Anthony Darbyshire’s Lake Zurich 16 Mile Swim for Willowbrook

You might remember us introducing Anthony Darbyshire, who took on a 16-mile swim across Lake Zurich in loving memory of his beautiful mum, Sylvia.

Anthony chose this incredible challenge to raise funds for Willowbrook Hospice, following the compassionate care Sylvia received at our hospice in 2023. He has managed to raise £1,245 which is just amazing!

Known as one of Europe’s toughest open water swims – Anthony and his wife travelled to Switzerland in August.

Anthony said, “I managed to complete the swim in 8 hours and 43 minutes. Although a bit slower than I hoped, I can’t complain as I thought I’d be between 8 and 9 hours. It was seriously tough, but the great work that you guys do kept me going.”

He came second – right behind an Olympic swimmer – so we’ll definitely take that! We are beyond grateful for Anthony’s incredible determination and the funds raised to support our hospice.

Due to the current situation with Coronavirus and for the wellbeing of our patients, we kindly ask that all monetary donations are paid direct to our bank account, via online access to Nat West Bank:
