Spotlight on Volunteer – Sharon

This week is Volunteers Week, so to celebrate our amazing volunteers we have at Willowbrook Hospice, we will be shining the spotlight on some of our amazing team. ✨

First up, Sharon!

Sharon has volunteered on Reception at Willowbrook Hospice for nearly three years. She uses her skills from her career in the NHS to welcome visitors and families with a smile, answer phone calls and complete administrative tasks. Alongside this, Sharon is always keen to help out in other areas of the hospice and can also be seen in the laundry, assisting with ironing.

When asked about why she started volunteering with Willowbrook, Sharon said:

“I wanted to use my spare time doing something worthwhile and I love that Willowbrook is a local charity. The staff and other volunteers are all so lovely here – everyone makes me feel so welcome. I really enjoy greeting families when they visit patients. A friendly chat can make such a difference and the relatives are always so appreciative. It’s the small things that make Willowbrook so special. I tell anyone who asks me about volunteering here that it is incredibly beneficial – not just for Willowbrook, but for me too!”
