We welcome Andy Burnham‘s support for hospices and his recognition that they must be properly funded to continue providing vital care for local communities.
Speaking in response to the Dear Prime Minister campaign led by Wigan & Leigh Hospice, Andy Burnham said:
“We need to make sure hospices are properly funded and we’ve also got to face up to the pressures right across care.”
These words reflect the reality facing hospices across the North West, including Willowbrook Hospice. Demand for palliative and end of life care continues to grow, while many hospices are under increasing financial pressure.
At Willowbrook Hospice, we’re proud to stand alongside our hospice colleagues in calling for sustainable, fair funding that allows us to continue delivering compassionate, specialist care to everyone who needs us.
We hope to see increased support from government to enable hospices to continue to provide their crucial support to their communities.
