On Monday 11th December, we hosted a very intimate concert at Prescot Parish Church, with live performances from Heather Small – The Voice Of M People, Tom Loughlin – Classical Tenor Male Vocalist and Olivia Parr Music to raise vital funds for Willowbrook Hospice.
Jonathan Stott was cared for at Willowbrook in 2022 before he died peacefully at the hospice with his husband Neil by his side. Heather was a good friend of Jonathan and wanted to do something to show her gratitude. Together with Neil, the idea of a concert in the church where Jonathan felt a special connection to his faith, was born.
Tickets sold out within the first hour of release, the 400 lucky ticket holders that attended were stunned with the beautiful setting of the 800 year old church.
Reverend Kimberley Mannings, the Vicar of Prescot, strongly urged guests to dance, which they certainly did!!
St Helens’ very own Tom Loughlin, and Olivia Parr both wowed the crowd with their incredible vocals. Willowbrook is a charity close to Olivia’s heart as her Grandmother was a patient at the hospice.
The eagerly awaited performance by Heather Small certainly did not disappoint! Guests thoroughly enjoyed five of her top hits – ‘One Night in Heaven’, ‘Moving on Up’, ‘Search for a Hero’, ‘Sight for Sore Eyes’ and ‘Proud’.
Heather said: “Thank you to everyone for attending the concert last night in honour of my beloved Jonathan. I was blown away by the kindness and the love felt in the room. The energy was radiating. I’d like to wish everyone a peaceful Christmas and New Year.”
Ian Craig, Chairman of Willowbrook Hospice said “It really was a night to remember, we are proud to have raised a phenomenal amount for Willowbrook Hospice!
This would not have been possible without the hard work from our Fundraising Team and the incredible performers that made the evening so special. We would also like to express our thanks to Village Hotel Liverpool for kindly sponsoring the event.
Thank you to everyone who were able to purchase tickets for the night, we really are so grateful for your continued support!”
