Outreach Summer Social

At Willowbrook, many of the people we support are facing incredibly challenging times – whether living with a life-limiting illness, caring for a loved one, or navigating bereavement. That’s why our Summer Social, held on 18th June 2026, was so special.

Organised by our amazing Patient & Family Support Assistant, Jane Knowles, the afternoon brought together patients, families, carers, volunteers and staff for a few hours of music, laughter, games and friendship. It was a chance to step away from appointments and treatments and simply have fun.

One carer shared:

“This is the first time in so long I’ve been out with my husband, and we’ve put his illness to the back of our minds… thank you for giving us this afternoon together.”

Moments like these remind us why community matters so much.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success:

– Portico Vine Amateur Rugby Club, especially Billy and the team, for being such welcoming hosts.

– Maddie, our talented singer, and the Centre 63 Ukulele Band for keeping us entertained.

– Mandy at Metcalfe Balloons for the beautiful decorations.

– Colin Armstrong for capturing so many wonderful memories.

– Our fantastic Willowbrook catering team for the delicious buffet.

– And, as always, our incredible volunteers – we simply couldn’t do what we do without you.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the afternoon so memorable. It was a wonderful reminder that even during life’s toughest times, moments of joy, connection and kindness can make all the difference.
