Volunteer Spotlight – Jayne

Jayne has been a volunteer at Willowbrook for over five years, giving her time six days a week at our shop in St Mary’s Arcade. Her main role is sorting donations and categorising them for sale, she is the backbone of the sorting area and the shop would be lost without her.

Jayne goes above and beyond for Willowbrook , bringing her energy and creativity to fundraising – most memorably when she completed an abseil down Liverpool FC’s stadium, earning herself the nickname “Spider Nan!”

“I love all things vintage, and I enjoy discovering the weird and wonderful items people donate. Recently, I spotted a Welsh woollen blanket that sold for over £200 on eBay! It’s amazing to know that what I do here helps fund the vital services at Willowbrook.

My cousin was a patient at the hospice, so I’ve seen firsthand the incredible care they provide. It’s also fantastic knowing that the people of St Helens can pop into the shop, find a bargain, and support Willowbrook at the same time.

To anyone thinking of volunteering in the shops, I’d say: ‘Just get down here! It’s great fun!’

If you would like to support Willowbrook in one of our fabulous shops contact Ian or Emma at the Volunteer Hub on 0151 430 8736 or email help@willowbrookhospice.org.uk
