20th July 2022 marks the 25th anniversary of Willowbrook Hospice welcoming its first patient, so this July – and for the rest of 2022 – we’ll be celebrating and showing our gratitude to our community of St Helens and Knowsley. Here’s a taste of some of the exciting things going on that you can get involved in…
25th anniversary celebrations
We’ll be celebrating at both the Hospice and The Living Well on 16th July, the Saturday before the date of our anniversary.
At Willowbrook Hospice, we’re holding an Open Gardens & Wellbeing Day. Our award-winning gardens will be open to the public for the first time this year, and you can join us for tai chi demonstrations, mindfulness activities, and retail therapy!
The Living Well will host our Summer Fayre on the same day, with stalls, games, fab food, classic cars and some special performances! You can also view our ‘Willowbrook Through The Years’ exhibition, and there’s an extra treat in store at 12pm with the grand unveiling of the Johnny Vegas ‘Penguin’ by Saints RFC players!
Both events are free to attend. A free bus service will also be provided between the two sites, provided by our supporters Hattons Travel.
#Willowbrook25 countdown
We kicked off the festivities on all of our social media channels, where we’re counting down 25 reasons to celebrate Willowbrook – one each day until our anniversary on July 20th!
Follow our channels to join in the fun, or search for #Willowbrook25 on any platform.
Celebrating in the shops
Our nine Willowbrook shops are joining in the celebrations too. On the day of our 25th anniversary, 20th July, you’ll be able to get 25% off everything in any of our shops!
Each shop is holding a raffle to win a £25 voucher to spend in that shop.
Memory trees will be in all of our shops from Monday 4th July until the end of the month. For a small donation, you can dedicate a dove to a loved one and place in on branch on one of the memory trees in our shop windows.
The 25th Anniversary Appeal
For 25 years we have cared for and supported the people of St Helens and Knowsley. Now, we need your support to ensure we are still here for our community in another 25 years.
You can support our 25th Anniversary Appeal now by pledging £10 in memory of someone special and sponsoring a brick in our virtual wall.
Celebrating around St Helens and Knowsley
Take a look at the Steve Prescott Bridge in St Helens from 16th July – to mark our anniversary week, it be lit up in Willowbrook colours! We will also have messages going out on display screens across key roads in the area, and at the Totally Wicked Stadium during Saints’ key match on 15th July.
Make sure you pick up your copy of the St Helens Star during the week from Thursday June 30th for a special commemorative Willowbrook Hospice pullout! You can read the e-edition on the St Helens Star website.
Are you flying from Liverpool Airport soon? Look out for our screens – live for the month of July!
Our special 25th anniversary edition of our supporter newsletter will be sent out to over 6,000 households across St Helens and Knowsley on 8th July. You’ll be able to check back on our website for the digital versaion soon.
