Willowbrook is very delighted and proud to announce that we nominated three of our long-standing volunteers for the Long Service Award at the Halton & St Helens Voluntary and Community Action Awards 2025.
Rita and Ron Teed were highly commended for their work in the hospice gardens over very many years.
Janet Redcliffe received the award for Long Service! From the nomination entry:
‘Janet’s commitment to Willowbrook over the years has been steadfast and consistent. She has participated in countless summer fairs across St Helens, running stalls with a variety of activities such as lucky dips, tombola’s, and raffles. Her passion for fundraising has been so immense that, at times, her family joked that they barely saw her during the summer months. Janet’s ability to engage with the local community and create fun, family-friendly events has been one of the driving forces behind her fundraising success.
In addition to her involvement with summer fairs, Janet also dedicated many years to collecting for the Willowbrook Lottery. No matter the weather, Janet ensured that the funds needed to support the hospice were gathered. Her commitment to this cause has made a significant impact, as she consistently went above and beyond to ensure the success of the lottery and other fundraising initiatives.
To date, Janet, individually, has raised more than £12,000 for Willowbrook Hospice, a truly impressive contribution that reflects her dedication and hard work. In recognition of her 30 years of official service, she was honoured with a Long Service Award in 2024. This award is a testament to her unwavering commitment to the hospice and the lives it touches’
We are absolutely delighted that Rita, Ron and Janet have been nominated and thrilled that Janet won the category. Congratulations to all and thank you to the team at Halton and St Helens VCA!
